We are leaving tomorrow morning! The girls are giddy with anticipation. If you would have been around our house you would have thought our trip was scheduled three weeks ago. That is how long the girls have been completely packed! We have been planning this trip for almost a year. In our family planning is almost more fun than the actual event.
Today after we came back from school and work, I was dealing with an intense headache and told the girls to let me rest for half an hour and then I would prepare dinner. They decided to pack the car for the trip and this is what I found when I got up.
They had even sat in their seats and decided what inclination they wanted the seats to have. It is fun to see them so excited! I worry a little they have too high expectations and might be disappointed if things do not turn out exactly as they imagined them.
The focus on the trip has influenced our financial decisions this past year. We saved faithfully every month and will be able to pay for the trip cash. A side benefit was it provided a great excuse to wean the girls from the constant nagging us at stores to get them something. All we had to do was mention the trip to Disney and most of the time they would magically stop begging. I have to come up with a new excuse once we come back. Even Natalie has been pretty focused in her saving efforts and was excited tonight to finally open her “flower” bank and pack her money for the trip. I hope this experience has taught the girls a little bit the benefit of delayed gratification.
So we are off to see The Mouse! I hope to have time to post a couple of blogs from there. So make sure and check back!
