Here is a little rant coming from my foggy, overly medicated, underused brain. I have been fighting a cold (I hope it is a cold and not something more serious) for the last couple of weeks that does not want to go away and a cough that does not let me sleep at night. As a result, my Internet surfing in the wee hours of the night has significantly increased.
During these surfing sessions, I inevitably stumble upon some website or blog that starts playing music as soon as the page loads. This is one of my biggest pet peeves as far as websites go. You know where you click on the site and you are immediately blasted by loud, often obnoxious music. You get startled, your heart goes into tachycardia and you are fumbling in the dark to find the mute button. Often times it is just easier to close off the tab and not come back.
I do not hate music, I just rather you not put it on your website, or at the very least do not let it play automatically; give me the option to press “play” if I want to hear it.
