We had a little too much excitement, this last Sunday celebrating my niece and nephew's birthdays.
The day started gloomy with Elena having to be taken to ER around midnight and being hospitalized with some stomach problems. We were all feeling sad she was going to miss Alex's birthday and more yet that her own party was going to have to be postponed. The plan had been to celebrate Alex's birthday with a brunch and then Elena's party was going to be in the afternoon (both were taking place at Alex's house).
Alex's party theme was Little Einsteins (he loves that red rocket) and his dad Richard went all out preparing a mission for them to act out. The party was a huge success, and thankfully Elena was released from the hospital in time to attend the end of it.
My sister, Elena's mom, had already decided to cancel her party since Elena was still feeling kind of sick and said she was very tired. All the guests were called and informed of the change, and the kids played for a while the adults relaxed and tried to recoup from the morning party. All of the sudden Elena got a burst of energy and decided she did want to have her party that day after all. After some back and forth, my sister decided to go ahead and have the party that day. By the time that was decided, we only had a couple of hours to call all the guests back, pick up the stuff from the morning party and decorate everything in a Princess theme. The cake had been baked the night before but needed to be frosted. It was a mad dash to get things ready, but incredibly enough we were able to pull it off.
Everything looked so cute! With all the rushing we did not take pictures of the princess table setting, and most of the decorations but it looked awesome! (Edited to add some pictures. Thanks Rich!)
The girls changed into their princesses’ outfits and were so excited! Surprisingly even the boys got into the excitement of being "kings" (they refused to be called princes). Elenita had such a great time, she looked so cute and we were all so happy she was able to have her party after all.
It was a grueling day for all the adults, but the children thoroughly enjoyed all the celebrations and being able to spend so much time together.

That was a great reflection of the day! The words and the pictures fit well together for describing the mixture of pain and pleasure that go into pulling off a child's birthday party.
Love all the princesses!
