Making Valentines

We spent the evening making Valentines for a little party we are planning with the cousins this Saturday. Originally, we had planned also making Valentines for the girl’s classmates, but that plan quickly faded after a trip to Target and seeing all the pre-made options they offered. It took a little extra effort to convince Kaitlin, but at the end practicality won.

The girls put together these cute bags to give their cousins on Saturday; inside there is candy and some little trinkets. Kaitlin also decided to make little cards for everyone.

Natalie finished her bags quickly and then started getting antsy waiting for Kaitlin to finish hers. She kept marching around the room singing "The ants go marching eighty by eighty, hurrah, hurrah... the little one stops to talk to Katie..." and then she would start laughing uncontrollably. I do not think Kaitlin found it that hilarious.

At one point I started acting goofy and talking to her like a little baby and she said "Mom stop acting like a little girl" I laughed and said "But Natie I haven't been a little girl in a long time, let me have some fun" She looked at me in a serious way and said "that's because you ate your breakfast too early and your lunch too quickly, that makes you grow up really fast", and then she couldn't hold her serious face anymore and just cracked herself up. What a silly goose!

We had also planned on baking little heart shaped cakes for the the kids to decorate at the party, but the Valentines making took a little longer than expected so we had to postpone the baking for tomorrow.

I hope your Valentine’s Day is a sweet one!
